How to Use HoldVault

A short, plain-English tour. HoldVault is a private crypto portfolio dashboard — all your data stays in your browser.

1 · Load your holdings

You can start in three ways:

  • Manual entry — for small portfolios, type symbol, quantity, currency, cost, and (optionally) location, target price, and purchase date.
  • Excel upload — download the template, fill it in, and drop it back in. Column order: Symbol, Quantity, Currency, Cost, Location, Target Price, Purchase Date.
  • Google Sheets — paste a public-view link and HoldVault imports the first sheet.

2 · Watch live prices come in

Prices are fetched from Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken. Gain/loss, market value, and P&L signals recompute automatically.

3 · Change display currency

Use the currency switcher in the header to view every value in your preferred currency. Non-USD costs are converted at today's live FX rate and marked "converted at today's rate".

4 · Add locations to track wallets separately

Same coin across multiple exchanges? Add a Location per row (e.g. "Coinbase", "Ledger Nano"). Filter chips let you slice the dashboard by asset or location.

5 · Export or print

Use Export → PDF or Excel from the header. PDF uses the browser's print dialog (choose "Save as PDF"). Excel exports the currently visible filtered rows.

Privacy

No wallet connection. No sign-up. No server storage. All your holdings, snapshots, and preferences live in your browser's localStorage. If you clear browser data, the app resets.

FAQ

Do I need to connect a wallet?
No. Just type or upload your holdings.
Are my numbers sent anywhere?
Only the Smart Insights AI narrative sends a summarised view (no keys) to the AI provider. Everything else stays local.
Where does live pricing come from?
Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken public APIs, tried in that order.
Why did my Portfolio History chart reset?
Snapshots are keyed to your display currency. Changing currency starts a new series so historical numbers aren't mixed at inconsistent rates.
